Meet Ann-Louise Gauffin, Quality Manager at Keymet

With a background as Production Stage Manager at Svenska Teatern in Helsinki and training in service design, Ann-Louise knows that a good system needs to make sense to the people using it. That’s why she wants to make quality management logical and easy to use across Keymet.

“At the end of the day, people are the ones using the system – and people need to understand it,” says Ann-Louise.

What made you move from theatre to industry?

It’s a completely different world, but some of the fundamentals are the same. At the theatre, much of my work was about quality and safety, making sure processes, rehearsals, and performances ran smoothly. At Keymet, I get to use those same strengths in a new setting.

What made Keymet the right place for you?

I'm really glad to be here. My predecessor has built a solid foundation, and I like that Keymet wants to grow while keeping people and good service at its heart. I hope I get to stay for a long time.

Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know.

I used to run a small side business in Helsinki working with epoxy resin art. I love hands-on work; it's a lot about quality, too. It’s on hold for the moment, but it’s the kind of hobby where you never stop learning, so I can always come back to it.

How does a typical workday start for you?

I start by checking my emails and getting an overview of what needs my attention that day. Customer claims are one part of that, and I make sure every customer gets a personal reply that shows we take quality seriously. Then I head to the production floor to talk with the people involved and see how we can improve processes.

That’s also something I’ve appreciated since joining Keymet – quality isn’t something you work on alone. We work on it together.
